Established in 1973, the White Clay Bicycle Club (WCBC) consists of over 400 cyclists from Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. We come in all shapes and sizes, young and old, and all abilities with one very important factor in common—a love of cycling! We are “roadies” and tourists, racers, mountain and tandem bikers, commuters and daily riders, weekend and occasional riders, and even non-riders. What keeps all of us going is our enthusiasm for health, camaraderie, the love of the outdoors and a desire to learn more about ourselves and our sport. WCBC and its subgroups—First State Velo Sport and Toucans—are affiliated with the League of American Bicyclists, Adventure Cycling Association and United States Cycling Federation. Monthly Club Meetings WCBC - First Monday of the month, 7:00 p.m., at WILMAPCO on RT. 72 in Newark (south of the library). For directions visit www.wilmapco.org/find.htm . The Executive Committee discusses club business and periodically special guests present enrichment programs. All cyclists are welcome! WCBC Membership COSTS $15/adult - $8/child (under age 18) - $20/household BENEFITS • 11 issues of the Tailwind containing the monthly ride schedule and much more • You can place free classified ads in the Tailwind • Annual events : Potluck Banquet (Feb.) and Club Picnic (July) • Special programs at monthly meetings Most of all, your membership supports strong representation at public transportation hearings and the Delaware Bicycle Council meetings and community events Membership
| Executive Committee Tailwind The club's monthly newsletter, the TAILWIND, is published 11 times a year by White Clay Bicycle Club as a benefit of WCBC membership. Complimentary copies are distributed at bike shops in New Castle County. Views and opinions in articles submitted to this publication are not necessarily endorsed by, or reflective of the views and opinions of WCBC. PUBLICATION DEADLINE: Submit articles, classifieds, and other material for publication by the first of the month for the next month’s issue (e.g., January 1, for the February issue). Writers’ guidelines: Send all articles, classifieds and other materials for possible publication to the editor via mail or e-mail. The editor will try to use material as submitted but reserves the right to shorten, modify or omit it. ADVERTISING: Classifieds (non-commercial advertising) are free of charge to WCBC members and run for one month. Deadline is the first of the month for the next month’s issue. Non-members may place classified ads for $5 per month (payable to White Clay Bicycle Club and received prior to publication). See address below. Commercial advertising: Display advertisements of various sizes are available. Camera-ready submissions must be received with payment by the deadline, the 25th of the second month prior to publication (e.g., May 25 for July issue). Tailwind is mailed on a subscription basis to all members and the database is managed by the Membership Chair. Your mailing label shows when your membership expires.
