JULY 12-19 - Hills of Virginia Tour with Aaron Chen
2008 will be our 15th anniversary of doing our Hills of Virginia trip.   Join us the week of July 12-19 for 4-6 days of challenging cycling as well as relaxing at the Massanuttan Resort.  We have a slightly special trip planned this year.  We plan to stay at the Massanuttan Resort, a large resort on Massanuttan Mountain.  Typical activities at the resort include golfing, swimming, hiking, tennis and of course cycling.  In addition, in the valley of the resort is a huge water park.

We have already obtained three condo units at the resort.  Those three units went fast.  If you are still interested in going, contact me (302-731-1456 or cycling1@verizon.net) as soon as possible.  If more folks express interest we will try to get another condo unit but since the resort fills up quickly (this is prime time) they may not be available.  If available, cost per person sharing a condo will be $180-$225.  If no additional condos are available, folks are still welcome to cycle with us in the mountains.  They can have to obtain a hotel room in Harrisonburg, Virginia or contact the Resort themselves to see if they can book their own units.  (Sometimes there are some units at the resort being used as “hotel units”.)

Most folks will be riding in the area for 4-6 days.  One day will probably be reserved for an “off the bike” day to explore the area and all it has to offer.  We will typically ride 35-65 miles each day.    Some climbs are very long and steep.   Long in Virginia could be 10 miles and grade could be as much as 22%.  We ride for the fun and beauty of the area.   Everyone rides at their own pace up the climbs.    Gearing that is suggested should be a 53/39 chainrings and 12/13 to 25/27 cassette.   No problem either if you have a triple.   This is NOT a sagged or supported trip.  We are on our own as a group so we support ourselves as a group.
