SUMMARY:Pinelands Gravel
DESCRIPTION:This adventure event is many years in the making.  Shortly after we organized the first Hell of Hunterdon in 2009\, we received several requests  to organize a gravel ride in the New Jersey Pine Barrens.  We knew we could develop a fun and fast course\, but the timing wasn’t right.  A few years ago\, when we began working with the Pinelands Preservation Alliance(PPA) on their annual Tour de Pines\, we knew the time was finally right.  \nThe ride starts at PPA’s headquarters at a preserved farm in Southampton\, NJ and travels through some hidden regions of the Pine Barrens\, including State Forests\, Nature Preserves\, Famous Trails\, Ghost Towns\, Ruins\, and the Carranza Memorial.  Carranza?  Captain Emilio Carranza was the “Lindbergh of Mexico”\, whose plane crashed in 1928 in a remote section of the Pine Barrens during a goodwill mission.  \nIn recognition of his adventure\, and in celebration of ours\, the ride finishes with post ride festivities in the renovated dairy barn at PPA.

DESCRIPTION:Full Hundo: This is the whole enchilada. Don’t select this category without knowing that you are in for one hell of a challenge. This route is somewhere between 7\,000 and 10\,000 vertical feet of climbing (depending on the gps) and has broken many very experienced cyclists. \n3/4 Hundo: Here is the ride for those of you who are on the fence between doing the whole ride and the shorter course. You will still get a great ride\, some gravel\, great views\, and quite a challenge. \nAlthough this is a shorter distance than the full hundo\, please be aware that this is a significant challenge for many experienced cyclists. \nMetric Hundo:  If you want to come out and give this ride a try but you don’t have the time\, or the hundo is just a bit too much to bite off for you\, this is a perfect ride. \nA lovely 40. We added this category for the folks that want to enjoy the event but do not want to go all the way quite yet. This course is a ton of fun and will get you back in time for lunch.  \nThere is plenty of gravel\, elevation\, scenery\, and smiles to make it totally worth trying this ride. \nJust because this is a shorter distance\, do not expect it to be a walk in the park. There are some monster climbs and some challenging descents on this course.

DESCRIPTION:Established in 1989\, the Tour de Franklin is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Franklin Food Bank and a staple in the community. DESCRIPTION:A “Spring Classic” for those of you who don’t particularly like riding on dirt roads. The Fleche Buffoon is our tribute to the Ardennes Classics (Fleche Wallonne\, Amstel Gold Race & the oldest of the classics\, Liege-Bastogne-Liege). \nWe now offer 2 hilly courses (ca 62 and 76 miles) through the Bucks County\, PA & Hunterdon County\, NJ countryside. The challenging courses feature up to 14 steep climbs over its route. Along the way there will be miles of country roads\, scenic farmland and quaint river towns. In true Amstel fashion\, on the long course\, there will even be an authentic Dutch windmill along the course (in Holland Township no less).  Both courses share a single aid station\, just prior to where the courses split.  \nThese courses are entirely paved\, no dirt or gravel\, unlike our other Spring Classics\, the Hell of Hunterdon\, the Fools Classic\, and the Sourland Semi-Classic.  Well\, the marquee climb (Uhlerstown Rd) is in crap condition\, with lots of debris and loose gravel\, but technically it is paved…

DESCRIPTION:The Hell of Hunterdon is the Mid-Atlantic’s Premier Spring Classic & Mixed Surface Ride; it is the ideal way to open your cycling season.  The courses wind their way through scenic farmland and country towns in New Jersey’s Sourland Region. \n\nWe are offering 3 Official Course Lengths in 2024; the courses have been modified due to the affects of Hurricane Ida (2 bridges on our former route are still out)\n\nThe Long Course is 81 miles with 13 dirt\, gravel\, and hardscrabble sectors (16% of the course).   Total elevation gain is ca 5800 feet (according to RideWithGPS).   This Course has 2 Aid Stations.\nThe Medium Course is 55 Miles long with 8 unpaved sectors (13% of the course).  Total elevation gain is ca 4000 feet (according to RideWithGPS).  This course has 1 Aid Station\nThe Short Course is 31 miles with 4 unpaved sectors (10%) of the course).  Total elevation gain is ca 2000 feet (according to RideWithGPS).  This course does not have any Aid Stations\nAll Courses can be shortened by 5 miles\, which also removes ca 500′ of elevation gain\, by taking the posted short cut.\n\n\n\nThe ride is followed by a Post Ride Celebration that includes hot food\, cold drinks\, and door prizes in a festive indoor/outdoor environment.

DESCRIPTION:A SHORT RIDE + TOAST TO THE MOST \nAVERAGING BIKE EVER DESIGNED: \nTHE Surly CROSS CHECK\, 2000-2023 \nThe SURLY Cross Check frame was first offered in 1999\, followed by a complete bike in 2000. \nIt was a sleeper hit from the start. At Trophy Bikes\, we called the Cross Check\, “The FENDER TELECASTER of bikes.” It wasn’t the best/most of anything\, but a Cross Check was pretty good at practically everything. \nParent company QBP said CCs were still selling OK\, but the push to make every bike use disc brakes to stop\, and the success of SURLY’S Straggler (pretty much a disc Cross Check) led to the CROSS CHECK being discontinued in 2023\, the longest run of any SURLY. \nThis ride is Party-Paced\, ends close to the start\, in plenty of time to make your Saturday Night festivities. \nPLEEZ: \nRide your CROSS CHECK if you got one (look at Craigslist!)\, or ride your SURLY of any type. \nOr jeez just ride a steel bike. Carbon fiber bikes may be subject to keying. \nAND ALSO: \nHelmet and lights\, duh. BRING 4 quarters or a dollar bill for the prize pot!

We’ll ride about 40 miles on road and mixed terrain. This challenging ride is geared toward riders with fitness and comfort with off-road technical skills. With over 3000 feet of elevation\, it’s designed for riders with solid fitness. \n\n14+mph\, Nosebleed pace\, red wristband\n11-12mph\, Spicy Pace\, blue wristband\n10-11mph: Peppery pace\, Pink wristband\n\nAfter the ride\, head over to our beautiful new Wayne store for beer\, snacks and bragging rights. The new store is located at 530 West Lancaster Avenue\, just west of the old store. \nGravel is lurking everywhere\, so get ready to explore the dirt outside your door and join us for a new route every first Sunday of the month from December – April. \nHelmets are required\, and lights and hydration are recommended.

SUMMARY:47th Brandywine Valley Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Delaware Valley Bicycle Club is pleased to offer our fully supported\, highly acclaimed\, Brandywine Valley Tour featuring covered bridges\, picturesque villages\, and amazing vistas! Enjoy any of seven gorgeous routes with 5+ rest stops serving varied menus including vegan/vegetarian and gluten-free options on request. \nFor the second year we are offering a combined road / gravel course.  This scenic 50 mile ride with 10 miles of unpaved roads is best suited for gravel and cyclocross bikes or other bikes with 32mm or wider tires. \nOur road courses are over low-traffic paved roads through the lush\, rolling Chester County hills known for its thoroughbred horse farms and beautiful landscapes. Our longer routes venture into the horse and buggy farm areas of Lancaster County. Century riders will roll to a rest stop in the aptly named town of Paradise PA. History buffs will love the historic revolutionary war connection of the nearby Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site. Others will be charmed by beautifully shaded roads winding by the area’s many creeks and streams. Just a few miles before your ride’s end\, cyclists on the 50 and 100-mile routes will roll into one of the region’s best “cow-to-cone” ice cream farms for a refreshing\, free ice cream.  \nThis is an all-outdoor event. Social distancing will be encouraged at our lovely rest stops and at the start/finish. Well-spaced pine tree shaded picnic table seating will be available for your dining and relaxing pleasure at the post ride party. \nYour tour fees directly benefit the community! Proceeds after tour expenses are distributed to many community organizations. Past donations have included local trails and parks\, non-profit cycling organizations and community schools and sports organizations.
