The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and Delaware Bicycle Council along with Delaware Bicycle Council, DelDOT Bicycle Program and Sussex Cyclists are sponsoring the annual Legislative Bike to Dover on Wednesday, May 13. This semi-formal ride offers cyclists the opportunity to ride with certain State’s elected officials and other bicyclists advocates and enthusiasts.
The ride to at Legislative Mall in Dover begins in Middletown Square for New Castle County riders and Milford Square for Sussex County riders. The routes are 30 miles and 24 miles respectively. Both routes feature a single mutual rest stop and a ride in unity for the last segment to Legislative Hall.
DelDOT states that, “This ride, promoting bicycling not only for pleasure but also as an alternative to shorter trips in motor vehicles, and as an important way to live a healthier lifestyle.“
A return transit service from Dover back to Middletown Square will be provided but space is limited. A seat can be reserved when registering for the event. Additional information for this supported event ride is also available in Out of Bounds. If participating, consider wearing your WCBC kit.
