Nighttime is the right time!

Back by popular demand, the twilight/night rides on the Castle Trail along the Chesapeake & Delaware (C&D) Canal start Wednesday, October 7 and continue weekly through the year’s end.

This trail is closed between dusk and dawn. However, the State of Delaware Department of Fish & Wildlife issued a special permit to WCBC for cycling along a section of the Canal on Wednesday evenings during these off hours. 

Rides will commence from the Municipal Parking Lot in Delaware City (behind Molly Spanker’s, formerly Crabby Dick’s) promptly at 6:00 p.m. The ride will enter the trail in Delaware City and stay on the Canal to the Marina Cove and then turn back (we will not leave the Canal to climb the steep hill). 

The route is a total of just under 17 miles for this out-and-back ride. Comprised of a duo of ride speed groups, all will be socially-paced because night riding doesn’t permit too much more.
