Congratulations to WCBC member Gary Cain who was selected as a prize winner in the Bike Delaware photo contest. Gary’s photo (pictured above) of his wife Deanna riding on the James A. Markell (JAM) was one of more than 200 submitted. Gary has previously received honors for his photos in other competitions; but this is the first time his winning photo was taken with a cell phone camera instead of 35 mm.
Gary has been a member of the WCBC for about 7 years. In addition to Calendar Rides, he has ridden in the Doublecross Metric and volunteered at Shorefire Century, Savage Century, Club picnics and annual banquets. Regarding his time in the Club, Gary adds “That it is fun to be around enthusiastic riders.”

“I was trying to get the combination of the Brandywine River and Wilmington’s downtown as the boardwalk descends towards the city. The pop of color in the spring flowers and Deanna’s jacket was a nice coincidence,” says Gary.
With that cityscape image, Gary won a New Castle resturant gift certificate. His award-winning photo with be shared along with the 7 other winners on Bike Delaware’s social media.
