An unexpected downpour changed the dynamics of the 2025 Icicle Metric, but not the spirit. Of the 95 registered, around 60 participated in the Club’s first major support ride event of the year on Saturday, April 5.

New leadership was on display for the Club’s opening supported ride event. Jamie Plower was not only overseeing the event as the new Icicle Metric Director taking over from long-time director Brian Donovan, but also debuting in her role as 2025 Club President.

A change in the traditional route was incurred due to road construction. This news was welcomed because it eliminated a large hill climb in the beginning miles.

The surprise rain shower, which dissipated on the second lap, added some rider ingenuity to the experience as one cyclist created a rain jacket from trash bag. Others embraced the spirit of the Icicle by wringing water out of their socks and also just getting on with it.
