The League of American Bicyclists has officially recognized the City of New Castle as an official “Bicycle Friendly Community”. The Battery Park Trail and Jack A. Markell (JAM) Trail highlight New Castle’s accommodating, safe and scenic cycling attributes.
Bike Delaware says for New Castle, “This is a long overdue recognition of decades of hard work by many people.”

Delaware has 4 cities honored by the League of American Bicyclists. New Castle joins Dover and Lewes as the other municipalities earning Bronze Award with its new honorific. Newark holds the distinction of the state’s only Silver Award as a “Bicycle Friendly Community”.
