Legislative Bike to Dover
The Department of Transportation and Delaware Bicycle Council are proud to support the Legislative Bike to Dover! Senator Sokola sponsors this semi-formal ride with routes beginning from New Castle County and Sussex County, ending at Legislative Mall in Dover. The starting point for New Castle riders is Middletown Square at 9:00 a.m. (30-miles).
The starting point for Kent and Sussex riders is Milford Square in front of Tractor Supply Company at 9:30 a.m. (24-miles) and Mike & Mel’s Family Restaurant in Camden-Wyoming at 11:00 a.m. (4-miles). There will be rest stops for both the New Castle and Sussex routes. Each group leader will try to accommodate joining
riders as best as possible, but this is not guaranteed. Both groups will meet at Eden Hill at 11:30 a.m. to ride in unity for the last segment to Legislative Hall.
There will be no scheduled refreshment stops along the routes. However, if you need replenishment please visit one of the local convenience stores or restaurants. A return transit service from Dover back to Middletown Square will be provided but space is limited. A seat can be reserved when registering for the event.
This will be Senator Sokola’s last ride as a state senator and we are grateful for his years of leading this ride, promoting bicycling not only for pleasure but also as an alternative to shorter trips in motor vehicles, and as an important way to live a healthier lifestyle. We also thank the senator for his support of improved bicycle facilities on Delaware roadways, as well as his efforts to increase the
network of trails around the state.
