With one week to go, the weather forecast looked stormy for the Shorefire Century. Mother Nature, however, had a late breaking news flash with sunny skies. The sudden favorable change empowered a spike of 50 late registrations for a total of 154.
From the registration process to the well-stocked rest stops and the finish featuring sandwiches and its signature ice pops, the Shorefire was well-received. The rest stops, route and popsicles earned noted praise.
“The ride is now one of our favorites, both by the rest stops and the incredible course. Tree-lined, quick roads and the scenery was amazing.” |
Nearly half of the Shorefire participants were WCBC members. A special shout-out goes to the strong showing by the Riders for Research group with more than dozen cyclists.
“The success of this ride goes out to all of the volunteers for making it such a wonderful experience for these riders,” said Shorefire Director Bill Ebbott.
