The First Stop

For the Delaware Gran Fondo, the WCBC volunteered to work the rest stop for the event. The Wilmington Grand Prix staff expressed their thanks for having a crew who were experts in cycling rest stops. The Gran Fondo provided the food and beverages for the 500 registered cyclists. The WCBC supplied the organization and energy to run the oasis.

The Delaware Museum of Nature & Science furnished the outdoor venue for the rest stop. Museum’s representatives chatted with volunteers and cyclists alike. Special thanks to Museum Senior Director of Communications & External Affairs Jennifer Acord for making everyone feel welcome.

Volunteering at the Gran Fondo, also offered an opportunity for the WCBC to share the news about the Club’s Ride Calendar, major ride events–with special emphasis on upcoming Doublecross Metric–as well as membership benefits. The WCBC gave Club pins and info cards with supported event QR codes to interested cyclists.
