The 2025 Shorefire Century was a not just a great day to ride, but “a perfect day”. How do we know? Over and over, cyclists told the rest stop volunteers, “it’s a perfect day to ride.” And who are we to argue?

This year’s edition of the supported ride event was a perfect ending to Shorefire Director Bill Ebbott’s final time coordinating after 7 straight years. Special thanks to Bill for his leadership and assembling an enthusiastic volunteer staff to cover all the nuances of a big event.

With the superb weather plus a reputation for excellent rest stops as contributing factors, 271 riders registered with 90% participating. Those numbers are quite an increase over the past few pre-COVID years. Of the registered riders, 36% were Club members.

With its relatively flat routes, the Shorefire has earned a deserved reputation as an ideal event to achieve 100 miles in a single ride. Roughly 80% registered for the century; most went the distance. And for those intrepid individuals who finished their inaugural centuries? Well, it was a perfect day.
