- Never store or charge the battery in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
- Remove the battery whenever you won’t be riding for an extended time.
- Never overcharge the battery. Unplug once the battery is charged.
- Many chargers automatically stop charging or revert to a trickle-charge. You can purchase a timer that shuts off the charger reaching a specific time period or energy level.
- Charge frequently and do not allow the battery to discharge fully. Charging a lithium battery after each ride, or at least every few rides, maintains battery health.
- If your battery can be removed from your e-bike and charged separately, charge on a hard flat surface where heat can disperse and in an area with good ventilation.
- Do not leave a charging battery unattended. Be present while charging and do not charge the battery overnight.
- Avoid charging the battery to 100%. To maximize battery life, charge to 80-90%—especially if a full battery is not needed for your ride.
- Store or charge batteries in cool, dry places and out of direct sunlight. Do not use batteries or chargers that are overheating or showing failure signs such as swelling, leaking or venting gas.
- Plugging the charger directly into a wall outlet is a best practice. If you must use an extension cord, use one rated that equals or exceeds charger specifications.
- Never use ordinary household extension cords as they may eventually overheat.
